Rhythm
With the correct grip, stance, posture and alignment you are 70 per cent there on the road to a successful golf swing, you must now find a way of swinging with rhythm and fluency.
The most frequent mistake is to tense up at address. Look around your golf club you will be able to find countless examples of golfers who seize up with tension before they even begin to swing - eyes bulging, white knuckles and taught muscles will only lead to an unathletic and inconsistent nervous prod at the ball rather than the graceful athletic swing you are looking for. Similarly don't flop around loosely over the ball as thought you didn't care about the outcome of your shot. The feeling you are looking to achieve over the ball is one of relaxed alertness. You are looking for controlled relaxation. You have confidence in your grip and set up and are sufficiently relaxed to make a full and confident pass at the ball.

Take away
Your takeaway should be smooth and slow. Think about how you release the clutch in a manual gear box car - too quick and your car stalls just like your golf swing will if your whip the club back too quickly. You are looking for a one piece takeaway with the wrists not breaking for the first foot or so of the swing. Many people achieve this by concentrating on the left shoulder and just turning it gently backwards

Backswing
As you take the club back you are trying to achieve a ninety degree shoulder turn. A simple way of picturing this is to think about pointing your back at the hole. Your left arm should remain straight and your right elbow should naturally point down towards the ground as your left arm guides the path of the backswing. Unless you are double jointed you will find that your hips will also turn naturally around 45 degrees and the balance of your weight will transfer to your right side. However I guard against thinking about hip turns and weigh transference unduly - just make a slow one piece takeaway and turn your shoulders and the rest should follow.

Forward Swing
The purpose of the backswing is to get you into a powerful position from which to strake the ball. The transition to the forward swing therefore should not be rushed. Even top golfers when under pressure are prone to rush here with the result usually being an unfinished backswing and a shot pulled left. Give yourself time to make a powerful turn and smooth transition of direction. As you start to swing down your weight will naturally start to return to your left side and your wrists will uncock as you hit the ball. Aim to finish your swing in a high and balanced follow through position like a top pro. Such an image will help you deliver a rhythmical follow through
