T his online lesson should be delivered within the context of a study of black peoples of America post American Civil war

The lesson is in three steps. Step one reviews a basic chronology of events from the American Civil War to the civil rights movement ina simple click and drag exercise. Step 2 involves the generation of a more detailed set of notes on the same topic. Step 3 is a detailed source analysis exercise of the lynching of the young black boy Emmett Till in Mississippi in 1955

Extension and consolidation exercises are highlighted throughout. A suggested lesson plan for teachers is available from the button bar on the right
