The final and potentially most exciting application for discussion forums lies in the mentoring of students. In this section of my example board I encourage students to consider their position in terms of the National Curriculum attainment target and set meaningful targets using the Learning Goals and Target wall attachments as points of information.

Target setting and mentoring are enormous "thieves of time" in an ordinary classroom situation. It is envisgaed that in a virtual environment a great deal of time can be saved from the process as pupils spend useful time in deliberations online that the teacher later engages with to finalise targets.
